The 10 Best Anime Songs of 2019

2019 was another strong year for anime music. However, there are 10 songs that were so good, they just stuck in my head and just wouldn’t leave. Here they are.

Artist: Void_Chords feat. LIO
Why I Love It: What starts with a subdued verse turns into a rocking soprano anthem–not to mention the little vocal slide the vocalist sneaks into the chorus to make it sound just that much cooler.

Artist: JUNNA
Why I Love It: JUNNA transforms what could be an ordinary song into an unforgettable ballad with nothing but the sheer power and range of her voice. It gives me chills everytime.

Artist: Nai Br.XX&Celeina Ann
Why I Love It: This song–the emotional core of the entire anime–is sung with such feeling, that I tear up every single time I hear it.

Song: “Winners”
Artist: TeddyLoid feat. Reol & Giga
Why I Love It: This song mixes great female vocals and autotune to make a song you’ll just be dying to dance to.

Anime: The Legend of the Galactic Heroes The New Thesis: Stellar War
Song: “Tranquility”
Artist: SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]:Anly
Why I Love It: The violin and the piano in the first verse are so beautiful I want to cry. Then in the chorus, it becomes a wonderful power ballad made complete with a soprano belting out the high notes. I swear Sawano Hiroyuki can do no wrong.

Anime: My Hero Academia: Heroes: Rising
Song: “Might+U”
Artist: Makayla Phillips
Why I Love It: This song is what happens when you take “You Say Run!”–i.e., the music that plays whenever something heroic happens in My Hero Academia–add vocals, and turn it into a fully orchestrated ballad.

Why I Love It: Poppy with a rocking beat, this song is fit for the dance floor–especially with the dueling female vocals.

Why I Love It: I love the idea of an acoustic guitar used so prominently in a hard rock song like this one.

Why I Love It: I just can’t get over how high the male singer can go in this song without breaking into his falsetto.

Why I Love It: All you need for an amazing song is an acoustic guitar and Aimer. (And the chorus ain’t half bad either.)
