10 Rocking Anime Songs From Summer 2020

While the ongoing pandemic has drastically reduced the amount of anime this season, that doesn’t mean we’re short of awesome anime tunes. Here are the 10 I’ve been enjoying most.

*Note: Songs are presented in alphabetical order by series.

Anime: Fire Force (Season 2)

Song: “SPARK-AGAIN”

Artist: Aimer

Why I Love It: The contrast of the fast-paced song with Aimer’s often-wispy voice makes this song far more interesting to listen to than if it had been sung by a different singer.

Anime: Fruits Basket (Season 2)

Song: “Eden”

Artist: MONKEY MAJIK

Why I Love It: This laid back song not only shows both the extreme highs and silky deep lows that the singers can hit but also has some fun syncopation in the chorus.

Anime: God of High School

Song: “Contradiction”

Artist: KSUKE feat. Tyler Carter

Why I Love It: While the dubstep instrumental sections in this one do seem a bit over the top to me, the vocals and how they mesh with the dubstep in the rest of the song is simply awesome.

Anime: The Misfit of Demon King Academy

Song: “Seikai Fuseikai”

Artist: CIVILIAN

Why I Love It: The contrast in the song is what does it for me. The pre-chorus is soft with minimal instruments while the chorus is about as far opposite as you can go.

Anime: Monster Girl Doctor

Song: “Yasashisa no Namae”

Artist: Aina Suzuki

Why I Love It: Honestly, this one hits me right in the nostalgia because it reminds me of 80s/90s anime ending ballads.

Anime: Mr Love: Queen’s Choice

Song: “Maiorite Kita Yuki”

Artist: Koi to Producer featuring Konomi Suzuki

Why I Love It: The powerful soprano voice in this one is all but guaranteed to hit you right in the feels.

Anime: Muhyo & Roji’s Bureau of Supernatural Investigation (Season 2)

Song: “Inochi no Akashi”

Artist: ZAQ

Why I Love It: From start to finish this song is nothing but a play on syncopation that has a ton of fun playing with the range of ZAQ’s voice.

Anime: No Guns Life (Season 2)

Song: “Chaos Drifter”

Artist: SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]:Jean-Ken Johnny

Why I Love It: I love how the background music is lowkey and basic in the verses and pre-chorus so you can focus on listening to the male harmonies spread throughout.

Anime: Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World (Season 2)

Song: “Realize”

Artist: Konomi Suzuki

Why I Love It: This one has an awesome, fast-paced build throughout the verse that explodes in a rocking chorus.

Anime: Sword Art Online Alicization: War of Underworld (Season 2)

Song: “ANIMA”

Artist: ReoNa

Why I Love It: The verses of this song have a rather dark structure–one that is completely blown away by the hopeful (and stupidly catchy) chorus.
