10 Rocking Anime Songs from Summer 2022

These awesome anime music tunes will help distract you from the summer heat!

*Note: Songs are presented in alphabetical order by series.

Anime: BASTARD!!
Song: “Blessless”
Artist: Tielle
Why I Love It: While Tielle is best known for her work with composer Hiroyuki Sawano, this song proves that she doesn’t necessarily need him to belt out an impressive tune.

Anime: Call of the Night
Song: “Daten”
Artist: Creepy Nuts
Why I Love It: This song’s drums, brass, and piano mix with the syncopated vocals to create something that combines jazz and j-rock in a refreshing way.

Anime: Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2
Song: “Face2”
Artist: Lozareena
Why I Love It: With the distorted voices and instruments used, this song feels like it was written and performed in the 2000s—which is why it is perfect for this re-airing of a 2000s classic.

Anime: Dr. Stone: Ryusui
Song: “Good Morning [New] World!”
Artist: BURNOUT SYNDROMES
Why I Love It: It’s rare that a remix of an old song surpasses the original but this one does for sure. Bringing in the orchestral percussion and strings—not to mention the piano and coral backup—is an inspired choice that brings this song to a new epic level.

Anime: Lycoris Recoil
Song: “ALIVE”
Artist: ClariS
Why I Love It: Look, when you have an anime about cute girls dealing with horrific violence, you need to start it off with an upbeat ClariS song. I don’t make the rules. That’s just how it is.

Anime: One Piece Film Red
Song: “Backlight”
Artist: Ado X Vaundy
Why I Love It: While the entire One Piece Film Red soundtrack is a tour de force for Ado, the hard rock chorus in this song, with Ado rolling her Rs and putting a growl into her voice while making precise vocal jumps, is so mind-numbingly impressive that I picked it over the Hiroyuki Sawano song she also sings in the film (just to let you know how good this one is).

Anime: Overlord IV
Song: “No Man’s Dawn”
Artist: Mayu Maeshima
Why I Love It: The way the singer rapidly jumps in and out of her female falsetto in the build to the chorus blows my mind every single time.

Anime: RWBY: Ice Queendom
Song: “Capabilities Unseen”
Artist: Void_Chords feat. L
Why I Love It: I’m in love with the use of staccato vocals in the chorus. It perfectly fits with the action-filled scene it is used in.

Anime: Spriggan
Song: “Seeking the Truth”
Artist: Taisei Iwasaki feat. YAHZARAH
Why I Love It: The mix of electric guitar and violin is always a win.

Anime: Uncle From Another World
Song: “story”
Artist: Mayu Maeshima
Why I Love It: This song feels like it would fit perfectly if used as the theme song for a mid-2000s JRPG. (And honestly, the homage-filled opening animation is flat-out brilliant.)
