This fall season with its 54 new TV anime brings with it double that amount in theme songs–and then there’s all the other anime music from films, ONAs, and continuing series. Out of that variable smorgasbord of music, here are the ones that I just couldn’t get out of my head.
*Note: Songs are presented in alphabetical order by series.

Anime: Anemone: Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution
Song: “There’s No Ending”
Artist: RUANN
Why I Love It: Rare is the song that mixes a synthesizer and techno beats with a panpipe.

Anime: Banana Fish
Song: “RED”
Artist: Survive Said The Prophet
Why I Love It: It has great rhythm in the verse that leads first into a hauntingly beautiful bridge and then into a piano heavy chorus with a male choir backup.
Anime: Conception
Song: “Star light, star bright”
Artist: Nano
Why I Love It: At this point, there are very few Nano songs I don’t like. In a world where soprano voices reign supreme, her powerful alto is a breath of fresh air.

Anime: Hinomaru Zumou
Song: “FIRE GROUND”
Artist: Official HIGE DANdism
Why I Love It: With an endlessly building chorus accented by trumpets it’s a song that makes me want to dance–and I don’t dance.

Anime: Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative
Song: “VigilaNTe”
Artist: Hiroyuki Sawano (Vocal:mpi & Gemie)
Why I Love It: The song is already rather unique due to the mass majority of it being sung in harmony between its male and female singer–but where it really shines is in the chorus where the two switch roles between melody and harmony mid phrase.
